Horse riding

The Latgale Trotters
You are welcome to tour the Rāzna National Park on horseback in the most beautiful display of every season: during bird-cherries’ blooming, in blossoming meadows, with pink autumn leaves or in deep winter snowdrifts.

The Rāzna National Park and its surroundings with the picturesque landscape of knoll Latgale elevation are important for several reasons:
  • At least 80 households raise horses.
  • The household „Rudo kumeļu pauguri” where you can daily watch the Latgale trotters.
  • Traditions from pre-war period of the 20th century– cart racing, also known as „popular driving”.
  • Horse riding, driving in a cart or coach, mounting "a bull" and many other interesting experiences.
The most suitable time for horse riding All year long, but particularly so in the most beautiful display of every season: during bird-cherries’ blooming, in blossoming meadows, with pink autumn leaves or in deep winter snowdrifts.
Route and its distance The distance from Riga to the Rāzna National Park is 250 km, therefore no one goes there for one day only – better reserve a full weekend; turmoil will be the least just during working days.

Alternatives The national park is very diverse: pottery craftsmanship, cultural heritage of old-believers and Catholics, well-arranged nature trails, climbing the Mākoņkalns hill or going by boat at “Latgale sea” – the Lake Rāzna, hiking among the highest Latgale hills, fishing in Ežezers - the richest in islands. Diversity is the feature of the park.

Note Everyone is responsible for his own and his children's safety during the course.
