Silver Travellers – supporting SMEs to reach and attract elder travellers by innovative structural and educational methods

Project goals

The project aims:

  • through the development of mobile learning and professionals' key skills learning material relevant to the labour market and considering the usage of European Instruments (ECVET/ECTS) to close an existing gap in the provision of modern technology learning in the rural tourism sector facing new market challenges;
  • to provide access to formal contents that can be used as mobile learning - project will provide formal and sequenced learning objects using prompts in different formats, namely audio, text, videos e.g.

It is estimated to reach ca 1000 rural tourism SMEs and ca 10 training establishments, including VET schools and adult training centres through roundmail news, e-newsletters, dissemination events. Specifically in Latvia it is expected that ca 30 rural tourism establishments will use the learning application and develop rural tourism products for seniors.

Project results

Project participants:

  • improved skills and experience to help rural SMEs to develop competitive, professional rural tourism products.

Participating organizations:

  • improved links between training sector and labour market.

Target group SMEs in rural tourism:

  • improved skills and competencies in product design, management and direct sales;
  • increased competitiveness due to professionalism;
  • better employment and self-employment opportunities.

Training sector:

  • adult training responsible institutions will be addressed as part of the project dissemination activities and informed about the project results. The project results can be used as reference or integrated in relevant training programs. Due to direct input from business practice, the project results will contribute to improvement and competitiveness of formal VET and adult training.
